ABOUT LES DEUX CHEVAUX GUESTHOUSE
An oasis of calm and relaxation in the heart of the Pyrenees Audoises countryside. A late 17th Century farmhouse set within extensive gardens with up-to date facilities, large comfortable beds and modern private bathrooms. Substantial continental breakfasts served and a “table d’hôtes” evening meal is also offered on request during your stay.
Les Deux Chevaux nestles in the far corner of the Val de Faby. A short walk takes you to a local Auberge and community producers market but with easy access by car to the many tourist sites of the Pays Cathars and Pyrenees Audoises. Nearby towns of Espereza, Quillan and Limoux provide all facilitie. The ancient Cité of Carcassonne is an hour away with day trips possible to the stunning mediterranean coastal area of the Côté Vermeille. Nearby Airports include Carcassonne, Perpignan and Toulouse.
We love being able to live in such a beautiful part of the French countryside and appreciate the nature that surrounds us. We look forward to welcoming guests who want to explore the many varied hiking trails, cycle ways and historical sites of the Occitanie region.
OUR ROOMS
Les Deux Chevaux offers you the choice of three rooms accommodating singles, couples, or small groups. Each room has access to its own private bathroom and offers comfortable 200cm length beds ensuring everyone can enjoy a restful night’s sleep. Two rooms on the first floor feature recently fitted shower rooms and professionally fitted sliding anti-mosquito window grills. Both rooms enjoy views over the gardens and local countryside.
Situated on the second floor, your own private staircase takes you up to the spacious triple room. This room is ideal for couples, friends or small family groups and can be set out as either three full size [90x200] single beds or as double with a king-size bed and a spare single. This room is situated in the oldest part of the house, dating back to the early 18th century.

OUR SERVICES
Breakfast
A comprehensive continental breakfast is served in the "salle à manger" which includes breads and pastries from the local boulangerie, fresh fruit salad, charcuterie, cheese and eggs cooked to order. Unlimited coffee, tea and tisane is available throughout the day. Special dietry needs can be accommodated by prior arrangement.
Garden
Our gardens are open to the beautiful Pyrénées Audoises countryside, with views over vinyeyards and hills. Guests can enjoy the quiet spaces and outdoor dining area to relax after a busy day exploring or to enjoy a breakfast coffee watching the sun rise. On warm and sunny days, your table d'hôtes may be served in the terrace area.
Refreshments
The very popular "Auberge du Faby"is open from April through to October and is only a few minutes away in Rouvenac. For guests preferring to stay closer to the Chambres d'hôte, (or visiting out of season) you are welcome to bring your picnic and make use of our dining facilities. Alternatively, by prior arrangement, we can serve a traditional"table d'hôtes" comprising a main course, dessert and a glass of wine. (Please advise us of any dietry requirements)
Free Wifi
Free WiFi is available in most rooms via Radio Internet and an excellent 4G signal is received throughout the property.
Housekeeping
Towels and bedlinen are provided for each guest with daily housekeeping to ensure you enjoy a enjoy a pleasant stay. To be kinder to the environment, towels are only changed every few days or upon request. Additional towels can be requested for use with daytime activities.
Parking
Car parking is available at the front of the property. Covered secure parking is available for motorbikes and cycles. We can also arrange storage and long term parking for those guests wishing to leave their car and continue their vacation by cycle or motorbike

THINGS TO DO
Hiking
The area around Les Deux Chevaux offers some great walking routes and opportunities to explore the Pyrenees Audoise region. Marked trails start from the house leading up towards the plateau de bouichet or a little further afield guests can enjoy a myriad of routes across the surrounding hills
Castles and Cathars
Stay at Les Deux Chevaux and be situated right in the heart of the Pays Cathars ready to explore the world heritage sights of Carcassonne and neighbouring ancient Cathar castles such as Puivert, Puillaurens, or Montsegur. Any stay must include a visit to the spectacular sights of the Château de Peyrepertuse.
Cycling
A cyclist's paradise awaits any guest who wants to explore the region on two wheels. The 2019 Tour de France passed by Les Deux Chevaux and Quillan, our local town, hosted the final of the 2021 stage 14. Guests can safely store their own cycles on site. Bike hire can be arranged by prior arrangement
Swimming
The summer is an ideal time to enjoy "wild" swimming in nearby lakes and pools. Enjoy the open space of nearby Lac Montbel or the "secret" pools alongside the river Faby. Other lakes are at Puivert, Arques and of course the purpose built facilities at Lac St Bertrand, Quillan. The Mediterranean Ocean is only 90 minutes away for those wanting to swim in the sea.
Coast and Sea
The dramatic "Côte Vermeille" is easily reached for a day trip where no one should miss visiting the stunning Collioure. Wide sandy beaches can be found all along the Aude and Pyrénées Orientales coastline, with the nearest resort of Le Barcarès only 90 minutes away.
Mountains
Les Deux Chevaux is perfectly situated to explore the spectacular Pyrénées mountains bordering the Aude, Ariège, and Pyrénées-Orientales. Local mountains such as Pic de Bugarach, or Pic de Saint-Barthélémy are within an easy day trip.
